Courtesy of a miraculous comeback by the Kansas Jayhawks, Vince Perez claimed our first place prize in the 2008 NCAA Tournament pool. I can only assume that Vince has already sent a thank-you note to Mario Chalmers, whose 3 point basket with 2 seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime. Congratulations on the win, Vince!After the dust had settled, Vince finished with 95 points and claimed our top prize of $1,050.
Finishing only one point behind Vince, Eric Fandek #3 and CapCon2 both scored 94 points. However, Eric won the 2nd place tiebreaker over the CapCon2 bracket as a result of having scored more points in the 3rd round. As a result, Eric claimed $525 and CapCon2 was forced to "settle" for the 3rd place prize of $390. That's still not bad for a $5 investment, ehh?
On a side note, if the CapCon2 name sounds familiar, that bracket finished 4th in our pool in 2005. That's the only bracket (in recent memory) to claim a prize in two different years. Here's the complete list of our Top 6 brackets this year

I'm sure that you're all excited to see that my dog made it into the money. In fact, it's the first time that a bracket has ever been posted on this site before the tournament began and subsequently finished in the money. Lila is jumping for joy!
Congratulations to everyone who won some money this year. Our annual "hard luck" award goes to David Dickelman and Abel Ayala. They each finished with 89 points (the same as Joe Gessner), but Joe claimed the 6th place tiebreaker over both of them. Abel, in fact, would have won the pool if Memphis had won the title. Instead, that bracket wins nothing. Ugh
